Nokia will reveal its latest Lumia Window Phone device on May 14, at a special event in London, and evidence is growing it’ll be a revised version of the Lumia 920, perhaps named the Lumia 925. The main difference could be in the body of the phone, as it may abandon the polycarbonate shell and adopt a lighter, slimmer aluminium chassis instead. This links back to rumors about a Nokia phone codenamed Catwalk, which was believed to be the Lumia 920’s sequel.
As the Lumia 920 is barely six months old, we doubt the Lumia 925 will get much of a spec boost, and the changes will mostly be cosmetic. However, one alteration could be on the camera front, as the dual-LED flash could be replaced by a superior xenon unit. The Lumia 920’s 8.7-megapixel camera is already an excellent low-light performer, and this could make it even better.
Another hint of the Lumia 925 being Nokia’s next phone comes from the USA, where the Verizon network is expected to get a version of the phone called the Lumia 928. The phone has been confirmed by Nokia, as a teaser webpage has appeared with the name used in the URL. The accompanying picture shows a phone with a chassis shaped very differently to the Lumia 920 too.
That’s not all, as there is a video to go along with the picture. Shot on a roller coaster at night, it compares the video performance of the new Lumia phone with the Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5. Of course, it comes out best. It looks like the Lumia 925 is a good bet for May 14, and we’ll bring you all the news on the day.
