Looking for a Windows Phone bargain? The Lumia 520 has dropped to just £80

Nokia Lumia 520Are you on the lookout for a bargain smartphone? If you’re interested in the Windows Phone 8 operating system, then the already well-priced Lumia 520 has become even more of a bargain, as it has dropped from £100 on Pay As You Go, to just £80.

This particularly attractive deal is available through Carphone Warehouse, and can get even better if you’re due a PAYG upgrade, as it’s yours for £60. New customers can choose between several major networks – Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile, O2 and Virgin. The only extra is a mandatory £10 top-up, but as you’d be getting that anyway, it’s not a deal breaker.

So what’s the Lumia 520 like? It’s an excellent entry-level smartphone, and ideal for first-timers, or for someone wanting to give the Windows Phone 8 OS a try. It has a 4-inch display with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, which trumps many basic Android phones, and it’s equipped with a 5-megapixel camera.

Inside is a dual-core 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM, which matches the more expensive Lumia 720, and is more than enough to keep the phone going in normal situations. There’s 8GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot which can bump it up by 64GB. This is a great bonus, and a rarity on higher-range Windows Phone devices. As for Windows Phone, the 520 is one of the phones compatible with the Lumia Amber software update, ensuring you get most of the latest apps and features.

The Lumia 520 is available through Carphone Warehouse now, and with free delivery.
