LG announced the G2 smartphone in August, and promised the phone would eventually make it to the UK. LG’s track record in this area isn’t great, with the Optimus G Pro never making an appearance, and the original Optimus G being launched many months behind its international counterparts. Thankfully, LG has stayed true to its word with the G2, as the phone can now be purchased in the UK through several online retailers and on contract with most major networks.
The prices vary a little, but they’re all below £500. At Handtec, the phone can be pre-ordered for £462, and stock is expected soon according to the page. Unlocked Mobiles offers the G2 for £490, and it comes with a free LG Quick Window cover which normally retails for £50. You’ll have to be quick on this one though, as the stocks are limited, but the phone is ready to be sent out today.
Over at Carphone Warehouse, the G2 can be purchased through Vodafone, Three and O2, where the phone is available for free on a two-year contract, with the cheapest monthly option costing £37.
The LG G2 is a interesting smartphone, as the power and volume controls have been shifted to the back of the chassis, where they’re supposed to be more comfortable to use. The G2 features a 5.2-inch, 1080p screen, a 13-megapixel camera and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. It’s a genuine contender in the Android world, and those rear-mounted buttons really make it standout.
