Huawei has sent out invitations to a special event to be held on June 18 in London. The text doesn’t give much away, telling us only that it’ll, “celebrate beauty, glamour, and inspiration,” at the event, and that beauty is, “worth waiting for.”
The invitation is certainly attractive, and Huawei has more than its fair share of equipment which hasn’t been released in the UK yet, making it difficult to judge which device – new or existing – will make its debut on the day. Pocket-Lint thinks it knows though, as it’s banking on the Ascend P2 being the star of the show.
Huawei’s P2 has already been announced, but as with many phones from the Chinese manufacturer, it wasn’t clear if it would see an international release. Apparently, Huawei has confirmed the Ascend P2 will go on sale in June, leading to the speculation it’ll be revealed at the June 18 event.
The Ascend P2 has a 4.7-inch touchscreen, covered with strong Gorilla Glass 2, with a 720p resolution, all wrapped up in a very slim, 8.4mm thick body. It’s powered by Huawei’s own quad-core, 1.5GHz processor, and runs Google Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as its operating system. The camera has 13-megapixels, plus there is 16GB of memory, HDR video recording and 4G LTE connectivity.
It’s certainly a phone with a high enough spec to warrant its own launch event, but there’s a chance if it does show up, it won’t be the only phone on display. We’ll make sure to bring you all the news next month.
