Apple set to announce new iPad tablets on October 22

Apple Oct 22If you thought Apple was done for the year after it announced the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, then you’re wrong, as the company has called another event for October 22. Although we don’t know for sure what it will announce on the day, the iPad tablet range is due for a refresh, so we’re expecting to see new full-size and mini models.

The fourth generation iPad was announced on October 23 last year, although the event was primarily for the introduction of the iPad Mini, Apple’s smaller, cheaper tablet designed to appeal to buyers of the Nexus 7. The rumours suggest the fifth-gen full-size iPad may get the same A7 processor and fingerprint scanner as the iPhone 5S, while the iPad Mini may have its screen upgraded to one with a Retina resolution.

Apple’s event may focus on the new iPad models, but as the invitation clearly states, the firm has many other things to show us. These could include new MacBook computers, a new Apple TV, and more news of the unusual Mac Pro computer and the next version of Apple’s desktop software, OS X Mavericks.

October 22 is going to be a very busy day for the tech world, as not only has Apple planned an event, but Nokia has also confirmed its own launch in Abu Dhabi, where as many as six new devices could make their debut. It’s going to be an exciting day, and we’ll bring you all the news as soon as it’s all official.
