Apple announces event for September 10

Apple Sept10Apple has sent out invitations to a special event to be held at its campus in California on September 10, where it’s expected to reveal the latest iPhone models. An Apple event is a key one on any tech fan’s annual calendar, and this one promises to be very exciting.

The invitation, which you can see above, says, “This should brighten everyone’s day,” which if you’re one to read meaning into Apple’s invitation text, then it could be taken as evidence the new models will come in various different colours. This has been one of the most enduring rumours concerning the next iPhone, but as always, there has been no confirmation of the rumor from Apple.

As for what to expect on the day, we should be seeing the iPhone 5S, a revised version of the current iPhone 5. Rumoured features include a faster processor and a fingerprint scanner, along with the aforementioned new colours. In addition to the iPhone 5S, a cheaper iPhone known as the iPhone 5C may also be revealed. Apparently, it’ll be aimed at increasing Apple’s presence in emerging markets, where the normal iPhone is too expensive to sell in high numbers.

The new version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS 7, will also be demonstrated in its final form, and the release date will be provided. The software was first announced at WWDC 2013, and should arrive a few days before the new iPhone is released. Will there be any surprises? Well, new iPad models aren’t expected, but there’s always a chance of a new iPod Touch to match the iPhone 5S. We’ll bring you all the news on September 10.
