Last week, Nokia made many of its fans happy by confirming the Lumia 1020 would be coming to the UK, following its launch in America last month. While it mentioned September 12 in its tweet, this date turned out to be for the low-key announcement event, and not the actual release date.
On the day Nokia told the assembled press the phone would be out to buy in the UK on September 25, and that it would be available on all four major networks. In case you need a reminder, the Lumia 1020 is the first Windows Phone device to come with the 41-megapixel PureView camera. The other specifications match the Lumia 920 and Lumia 925, as it’s equipped with a 4.5-inch, 720p screen and a dual-core Qualcomm processor.
The phone isn’t cheap though, as it’s up for £588 SIM-free with Clove Technology. For this price you do get an excellent accessory pack including a wireless charging pad, wireless charging case for the phone, plus the camera grip and tripod. Clove says it’s expecting the phone to arrive on September 27, and you can pre-order now.
If you’d prefer to get the Lumia 1020 on contract, then O2 is exclusively offering the 64GB phone, and that massive camera means the extra storage space is sure to come in handy. The Lumia 1020 will connect to 3G or 4G, and depending on which tariff you select the phone can be had for free.
Vodafone, EE and Three should also be selling the phone, plus Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U are also listing the Lumia 1020, so you’ve got plenty of choice if your heart is set on Nokia’s impressive camera phone.
